Q: What prompted the development of the WF Grade PET Shrink Film, and how was it successfully introduced into the market?
For many years, the shrink sleeve labeling industry has been in search of a suitable alternative to the widely dominant PVC-based shrink sleeve labels. While PVC offers excellent flexibility and adaptability in shrink applications due to its inherent material properties and formulation, its environmental drawbacks and lower shrink percentage have prompted the need for more sustainable solutions—especially for thin-walled, multi-contoured containers made of HDPE, PP, and PET that are sleeved empty on basic hot-air tunnels.
While options like OPS, hybrid PS-PETg, and high-end PETg films are available, they come with significantly higher costs. Our WF Grade PET Shrink Film offers a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative that performs exceptionally well across all types of containers and works with steam, hot-air, and electric shrink tunnels—all without the need to modify existing sleeving equipment.
With valuable support from prominent FMCG brands, leading converters, and experienced shrink tunnel manufacturers, we successfully developed and optimized our WF Grade PET Shrink Film over a span of 3 to 4 months in 2021. Through extensive in-house trials and developments, we fine-tuned its properties to effectively replace hybrid PS-PETg multilayer shrink film structures and high end expensive PETg Shrink Grades.
